| In April-May 2005 we worked at several sites in the departments of Beni and Pando, photographing wildlife, studying Warbling Antbirds Hypocnemis cantator of the race peruviana and gathering information on a fascinating, rarely visited corner of Bolivia. The ornithological highlights included our discovery of Green-tailed Goldenthroat Polytmus theresiae, Ocellated Woodcreeper Xiphorhynchus ocellatus perplexus, Pale-bellied Mourner Rhytipterna immunda, and Citron-bellied Attila Attila citriniventris, all of which are new records for the country. On a more local scale, we found several new species for either Beni or Pando, including Zimmer's Tody-tyrant Hemitriccus minimus and Lesson's Seedeater Sporophila bouvronides. These records and many more will be published in due course in the Bulletin of the British Ornithologists' Club. |
